Leocarpus bisporus
Nann.
-Bremek. & D.W. Mitch., in Nannenga-Bremekamp, Proc. Kon. Ned.
Akad.
Wetensch., C. 92(4):512 (1989)
Isotypus
:
AUSTRALIA
:
Victoria
, Melbourne district, Sandringham, on leaves and twigs of
Leptospermum laevigatum
,
17 Jul 1898
, leg. C. French, VPRI 39, DWM 4549 [one box + one slide, K-M001435088], (
Fig. 4H
).
Paratypus
:
AUSTRALIA
. No collections details but probably from
Victoria
, VPRI 41, DWM 4565 [2 boxes, KM001435089], (
Fig. 4H
).
Notes. In the original species description (
Nannenga-Bremekamp 1989: 513
), “Parts of VPRI 39 and 41 retained in the private herbarium of D.W. Mitchell sub number DWM 549 and 3565 respectively” is noted. Both samples are now in this collection at K. On DWM 4549 (VPRI 39) is handwritten “
holotypus
” and in spite of the fact that it is a fragment of the VPRI collection it appears to be the only one since in the Atlas of
Australia
portal (https://biocache.ala.org.au) we found no record of this species, nor of the
paratype
VPRI 41.
As Mitchell proposed (
Lado 2001: 53
), this species is now considered to be a variety of
Leocarpus fragilis
(Dicks.) Rostaf.
