Habit and habitat.
Scattered on humus in secondary vegetation.
Identification.
This species can be recognized by the pale brown to orange pileus, the whitish decurrent lamellae, and the echinulate rounded spores of 10–13 µm in diameter. Our material agrees with the description provided by Vizzini et al. (2011).
Neopaxillus echinospermus
(Speg.) Singer
is a similar species, but it differs from
N. dominicanus
by having an umbilicate pileus.
