Specimens examined. 20 specimens from the type locality of E . brazilli : Instituto de Biociências, Universidade de São Paulo on Hibiscus sp., collected in April, 2013; paratype female from Mercedes, Texas, USA , on corn leaf, collected in May, 25, 1955. FIGURES 17–23. Euseius mesembrinus (Dean) . 17. Female, dorsum of idiosoma; 18. Female, venter of idiosoma; 19. Spermatheca; 20. Female, chelicera; 21. Female, genu, tibia and basitarsus IV; 22. Spermatodactyl; 23. Male, ventrianal shield. An evaluation of the measurements provided in the literature for E . mesembrinus ( Dean, 1957 ; Abou-Setta et al ., 1991 ), E . ho ( De Leon, 1965 ; Moraes & McMurtry, 1983 ) and E . brazilli ( El-Banhawy, 1975 ) , as well as an examination of a paratype of E . mesembrinus and additional specimens of the same species collected in Florida, of the holotype of E . ho and specimens of E . brazilli collected in its type locality, showed that the latter two species are junior synonyms of E . mesembrinus . The length and width of the dorsal shield shown in the original description of E . brazilli are considerably larger than the measurements obtained in this study for the paratypes and for females collected in the type locality of the species. Probably the measurements given in the original description refer to the length and width of the idiosoma. Other characteristics contained in the original description and observed in specimens examined in this study are very similar.
