Dichotomius (Luederwaldtinia) joelus
Gandini and Aguilar, 2009
: 143
.
This species have been assigned to the
Dichotomius batesi
species-group, however it lacks the main diagnostic character of
batesi
group that is the ocellate punctures on pronotal disc - “
El disco
(del pronotum)
casi liso, com puntos superficiales pequeños
” (disc almost smooth, with small superficial punctures) (
Gandini & Aguilar, 2009
). After examining original description, pictures, and one couple of
paratypes
, we concluded that this name is a
new synonym
of
Dichotomius opacipennis
(Luederwaldt, 1931)
, then belonging to the
Dichotomius geminatus
speciesgroup as defined by
Nunes and Vaz-de-Mello (2013)
. As several
syntypes
of
D. opacipennis
were examined and all correspond to the same species, we will include their listing and
lectotype
designation in the ongoing revision of that species-group.
