The single species of the Saccharodite altissima species group can be recognized by the combination of the following characters: 1. Facial carinae separated. 2. Forewings with greatest width of basal cell between M and Sc+R nearly as broad as greatest width of basal median cell. 3. Forewings somewhat oval and elongated in shape with typical venation. 4. Forewings with sections of R after Sc + R fork and of M after the Ms2 fork with sensory pits. 5. In profile head evenly rounded at junction of vertex and face, produced in front of the subantennal processes. Discussion . This species group is only represented by Saccharodite altissima from New Guinea . It comes close to the Saccharodite guamana species group but stands apart by the separated facial carinae which are produced in front of the subantennal processes.
