Description.
Forewings elongated, 2.3 times longer than wide, length
6.5–6.8 mm
. Colour white to stramineous, mesonotum light brown, scutellum powdered; femora and tibiae of fore legs tinted with brown and red. Forewings with two prominent black marks around apical cross-veins connecting Sc, R and M; two additional smaller and lighter marks around first cross-veins between Sc, R and M; faintly infuscated along anterior and apical margins, along remaining apical cross-veins, and near claval tip; veins light brown, tip of Sc, its last sector, and adjacent margin orange-red. Hindwings colourless. Facial carinae not contiguous, slightly separated at base; rostrum reaching post trochanter; subantennal processes and lateral carinae of pronotum well developed. Forewings with Sc+R fork well before middle of wing; basal median cell narrow, M leaves Sc+R at base of that cell; Ms1 branched at apex of basal median cell, base of Ms1a angulated and connected to M by a cross-vein, forming a trapezoid cell. Pygofer of male genitalia with rounded, lateral projections; genital styles elongated, slightly truncated at end, proximal dorsal process short, distal dorsal elongated, a small hump between both. Apical part of aedeagus with a round, flat lobe attached to its right side; end with a flat process on the right side and a sharp, pointed process on the left side, curving down and to the left.

Diagnosis.
In forewing venation and coloration
Rhotana magna
resembles
R. ornata
Zelazny
from the
Philippines
, as well as
R. pacata
sp. nov.
,
R. fera
sp. nov.
and
R. tridentata
sp. nov.
, all three also from Borneo, and
R. ramosa
sp. nov.
from Sumatra. It can be easily separated from these by the two dark marks around the anterior apical crossveins of the forewings, by its large size and the elongated forewings.
