COMMENTS: The AMNH number of the
holotype
was cited in the original description and measurements were given for three adult males and one adult female. As mentioned in the original description, Gilliard was allowed by the Australian authorities to bring these four specimens to the AMNH on his return, the remainder of the specimens of this form being shipped with the rest of his 1950 collection. Using the measurements given, I was unable to determine which three specimens are
paratypes
. A total of
11 specimens
were collected, with the
10 in
addition to the
holotype
cataloged as AMNH 705703– 705707, 705707bis, 705708–705711, six adult males, one immature male, two females, one female?, near Base Camp, Mount Hagen,
8500–10,000 ft.
,
12–22 July 1950
. AMNH 705708 was sent to AM in 1953. See
Mayr and Gilliard (1954)
for a report on the collections made on Gilliard’s 1950 and 1952 expeditions.
