The original material of
L. rufescens
is preserved in P where Saint-Hilaire worked (
Stafleu & Cowan 1976
–1988: 1064). It is represented by two duplicates, neither of which is mentioned in the protologue. Therefore, according to Art. 9.3 of the ICN, we designate herein specimen P
02142940
as the
lectotype
of
L. rufescens
by choosing the most complete specimen and one that best represents the protologue’s description. Based on
Schumann (1886)
,
Burret (1926)
and the present study, the application of the name
L. rufescens
is confirmed as an accepted species.
