Type :— VENEZUELA . Distrito Capital : Las Peonias , “ In provincia Caracasana , loco dicto Peonia ”, Funk 378 ( lectotype , designated here , KW! [ KW001000107 ] ; isolectotype P! [ P 02142927 ]). [= Luehea speciosa Willd. ] In the protologue of L. ferruginea , the specimen n.378 collected by Funk is quoted without specifying the herbarium, but the author worked at and left much of his collection in KW ( Stafleu & Cowan 1976 –1988: 537–538), with duplicates in other herbaria. Two specimens were found in KW and P, and we designated herein specimen KW001000107 as the lectotype of L. ferruginea in accordance with Art. 9.3 of the ICN, by choosing the best-preserved specimen. Based on the type materials, the application of the name L. ferruginea is confirmed as a heterotypic synonym of L. speciosa , as previously accepted by Burret (1926) .
