. The male genitalia of
B. orthogramma
differ from those of the other species of the lineage by the more slender, distally not dilated uncus and the broadly shield-like (not subdeltoidal or rounded) juxta. The ampulla is remarkably shorter than
B. granitalis
,
B
.
albimixta
and
B. parva
; the long, apically pointed and not serrate-dentate cornutus and the relatively short ampulla are shared features with
B. volodia
.

. The species is widespread in the northern steppe belt of Eurasia, from Eastern Europe to the Russian Far East, the Korean peninsula and
Japan
; a different subspecies (ssp.
taishanensis
Boursin, 1954) occurs in Central
China
.
