Lithomelissa microptera Ehrenberg, Ogane et al., 2009 , pl. 21, figs. 3A–C. Remarks. Ehrenberg (1854c) first illustrated this species without a written description. Haeckel (1862) provided a description based on Ehrenberg’s illustration, but apparently without having physically observed any specimens himself. Ehrenberg (1874) then gave another description of the species, without referencing Haeckel but also not contradicting him. Petrushevskaya (1971) ’s specimen is questioned, because the cephalis is shorter and broader with less of a constriction at the neck compared to Ehrenberg’s type material.
