Microthereva argentiventris
is separated from
M. variventris
by the characters in the key as well as the posterolateral margin of the male epandrium being short, rounded (

); anterior margin of dorsal apodeme truncate (

); ventral apodeme extending to anterior margin of dorsal apodeme (
