This specimen does not seem to be the one figured in Lamarck (1816) pl. 423, fig. 2 (stated as pl. 424, fig. 4, a caption error). It probably is the one figured by Kiener, pl. 4, fig. 1. Locality on the label: Océan Indien . Remarks: According to Rosalie de Lamarck, her father’s collection contained two specimens . Current taxonomic position: Fusinus colus ( Linnaeus, 1758 ) ; placed in synonymy with Fusinus colus by Lamarck (1822) : 123; type species of Fusus Bruguière, 1789 , renamed Fusinus Rafinesque, 1815 . Locality is central Pacific, westwards.
