Widely distributed in the eastern half of North America, but west of the 100 ° meridian, previously known only from CO and SK (Bousquet and Larochelle 1993). Amara impuncticollis is associated with A. littoralis , occurring in open, moderately dry country with rich vegetation, usually of pronounced weedy character (Lindroth 1968). This species hibernates in its adult form.
