Dicranopselaphus is a large genus with more than 30 species, and was revised by Lee and Yang (1996). Larvae are diagnosed by the shape of the tips of the paratergites and the location of the pronotal paratergites ( Fig. 21 ). The species are distributed in India , Nepal , China , Thailand , Laos , Vietnam , Malaysia , Indonesia , Singapore , Japan , and in North America from the USA south into Central America. Adults can be collected at lights and by sweeping streamside vegetation. Five species are known from northern Thailand : Dicranopselaphus bicolor Lee and Yang, 1996 ; Dicranopselaphus doiinthanonus Lee and Yang, 1996 ; Dicranopselaphus fangensis Lee and Yang, 1996 ; Dicranopselaphus rufus (Pic, 1916) ; and Dicranopselaphus yamasakii Lee and Yang, 1996 . They have been collected in Chiang Mai Province : Fang, Doi Ang Khang, Doi Inthanon National Park, Doi Chiang Dao ( D. bicolor ); Chiang Mai Province : Chiang Dao, Doi Inthanon National Park, Doi Anh Kang, Phattalung Province : Phattalung Wildlife Breeding Center; Phuket Province : Palong ( D. doiinthanonus ); Chiang Mai Province : Chiang Dao env, Fang, Mae Hon Song Province: Ban Si Lang ( D. fangensis ); Mae Hon Song Province: Pi Tam, Surat Thani Province : Khao Sok National Park, Yala Province : Betong ( D. rufus ); Phang-nga Province: Khao Lak, Nakon Si Thammarat Province: Khao Lang National Park ( D. yamasakii ) (Lee and Yang 1996; Lee et al. 2000c ; Lee 2016 ).
