Jung 1974 , p. 42 , pl. 13, figs. 4–6. Type material. HolotypeRGM St10337. The type measures 34.7 mm in length, with a width of 10.3 mm ( Martin 1916 ). Type locality. Kembang Sokkoh , West Progo Mountains , Java , Indonesia [Recent] . Diagnosis. The shell is smooth and narrow, with a blunt teleoconch. There is a carina above the defined suture, with distinct incised spiral lines being the only sculpture on the teleoconch. The basal sculpture is not known. The labial callus is moderately developed. Distribution. MIOCENE—Burdigalian— Indonesia Kembang Sokkoh, West Progo Mountains, Java ( Jung 1974 ). Remarks. Jung (1974) argued that T. cinctum should be treated as a nomen dubium , as the unique bands noted by Martin (1916) were taxonomically irrelevant. However, the spiral threads are a characteristic peculiar to T. cinctum , and support its taxonomic divergence. Jung (1974) also suggested that T. cinctum may be a stouter and larger form of T. papilliferum , which is rejected based on gross morphology. This study proposes that T. cinctum is a valid taxon, and that these spiral bands are a distinguishing feature unique to this taxon. Martin (1916) provided two specimens from Puntuk Tedjo, Res Djokjokarta, Java as belonging to T. cinctum from the lower Miocene; however, these specimens lack the defining characteristic of T. cinctum , the spiral threads, and therefore should be treated as T. terebellum ( Jung 1974 ) .
