Perrona perron
group
This group comprises
Perrona descendens
(
Hilber, 1879
)
,
Perrona floriana
(
Hilber, 1879
)
,
Perrona ilonae
nov. nom.
,
Perrona loetschi
nov. sp.
,
Perrona louisae
(
Hoernes & Auinger, 1891
)
,
Perrona sabinae
(
Hoernes & Auinger, 1891
)
and
Perrona vindobonensis
(Quenstedt, 1884)
, which we consider to form a monophyletic group. All species are characterized by medium-sized, solid, moderately broad fusiform shells with gradate spire. Morphologically the
Perrona descendens
group includes also the extant
Perrona perron
(
Gmelin, 1791
)
and therefore this group represents ‘true’
Perrona
.
