Eurybathic species, found at depths between 36 and 1890 m ( Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2004 ), on muddy, sandy and stony bottoms and on bottoms composed of mud and sand or small stones ( Broch 1948 ). Basibiont of many species of hydroids belonging to different genera (Peña Cantero et al . 1997; Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2004 ; Peña Cantero 2013, 2014). Gonothecae : December ( Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2004 ), January and February (Peña Cantero et al. 1997; Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2004 ) and February (Peña Cantero 2013). Distribution. Circum-Antarctic ( Peña Cantero & Vervoort 1998 ). West Antarctica : off Elephant and Peter I islands ( Broch 1948 ), the Weddell Sea (Peña Cantero et al . 1997), off Low Island ( Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2004 ; Peña Cantero 2013) and from the Antarctic Peninsula area ( Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2004 ). East Antarctica : off Adélie Land (cf. Peña Cantero et al . 1997), Wilkes Land, the Balleny Islands and the Ross Sea ( Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2004 ), and off Queen Mary Coast ( Peña Cantero 2014 ).
