Calamotropha formosella is diagnosed by the white forewing with a dark brown band along the costal margin, and a relatively wide dark brown terminal margin; in the male genitalia by the short and broad valva with the apex deeply concave in C shape, the straight phallus about twice as long as the valva, and the vesica with one spine-like cornutus ( Li & Li 2012 : Fig. 4A ); in the female genitalia by the slender ductus bursae not conspicuously differentiated from the corpus bursae ( Li & Li 2012 : Fig. 5A ).
