Type:— JAPAN . Inaba province : ad corticem Pruni yedoensis, A. Yasuda 182, (TUR-Vainio 27802, not seen; isotype : US !) . Fig. 7E . Thallus corticolous, whitish, continuous, finely warty, corticate, glossy. Lirellae prominent, with a basal thalline margin, short to elongate, up to 7 mm long, straight, curved or sinuous, mostly unbranched, but also sparsely irregularly branched, labia convergent, entire, disc concealed, ( hossei- morph). Exciple laterally carbonized; hymenium clear; ascospores 8/ascus, hyaline, (5–) 7 (–9)-septate, 30–39 × 6–9 μm; 5-septate, 16 × 6–7 μm (protologue); 30–40 × 9–11 μm ( Lücking et al. 2009 ). Chemistry: no lichen substances by TLC (anal. J. Sutjaritturakan). Distribution and habitat :—Eastern Palaeotropics, reported from Japan ( type locality) and here from Thailand for the first time. It is growing on bark of an unidentified tree at 35 m elevation. Remarks :— Lücking et al. (2009) classified the lirellae as marginata -morph = with thick lateral thalline margin, but the protologue states: “... labiis laevigatis, omnino nudis aut basi angustissime thallino-obductis.” Also Nakanishi et al. (2003) state in the key leading to G. pruinicola : “Ascocarps covered with a thalline margin only near the base”. As this agrees with isotype material in US and with our specimen, we reclassify the lirellae as hossei -morph. Material from Thailand examined :— Phang-Nga province : Mueang district , tambon Tak Daet , surroundings of Ban Suanprik , on bark of an unidentified tree, 35 m , 08°28’05’’ N , 98°28’58’’ E , 26 April 2012 , J. Sutjaritturakan 4207, (hb. K. & J. Kalb 42325) .
