( Fig. 82N ) . Geographical distribution and bathymetry Philippines , Marshall Islands , W Thailand , in shallow water to 350 m deep. In New Caledonia it has been sampled at depths between 100 to 500 m in the Coral Sea, Grand Passage area, Norfolk Ridge and Loyalty Islands . Remarks Shell small (maximum shell length 30 mm ), conical with a moderate to high, stepped spire of straight to slightly concave profile. Spire whorls and shoulder with strong nodules continuing as axial costae below. Multispiral protoconch of about 3 whorls. Radular tooth ( Fig. 82N ) with the anterior section much shorter than the posterior section. Tooth serrated with 7–8 denticles arranged in one row, ending on a large, pointed cusp. Barb moderate. Blade prominent and pointed, covering about 80–90% of the anterior section of the tooth. Strong basal spur present on top of the very large base. In the phylogeny ( Fig. 2 ), C . ( T .) polongimarumai is sister to C . ( T .) chiangi .
