†
Melanopsis tinnyensis Wenz, 1919
Original source.
Wenz 1919a
: 73.
Type horizon.
Middle Pannonian, late Miocene.
Type locality.
"Tinnye"
(
Loerenthey
1902
: 214), Hungary.
Remarks.
Replacement name for
Melanopsis sinzowi
Loerenthey
, 1902, non Brusina, 1885.
Papp (1953b
: 145) considered the taxon as a junior synonym of
Melanopsis rarispina
Loerenthey
, 1902. However,
Papp (1953b)
gave the older names
Melanopsis bouei spinosa
Handmann, 1882 and
Melanopsis bouei ventricosa
Handmann, 1882 in synonymy of
Melanopsis rarispina
. While
ventricosa
Handmann is a homonym of
Melanopsis ventricosa
Neumayr, 1880 and thus invalid, the name
spinosa
is available and has priority over
rarispina
.
