DISTRIBUTION: Florida to SE Virginia (Dismal Swamp) ( USA ) in coastal lowlands. STATUS: U.S. ESA - Endangered as S. p. hefneri; IUCN - Endangered as S. p. hefneri; other populations indeterminate ( Chapman and Ceballos, 1990 ). SYNONYMS: douglasii ( Gray, 1837 ); hefneri Lazell, 1984; paludicola (Miller and Bangs, 1894) . COMMENTS: Subgenus Tapeti ( Gureev, 1964:162 ) .
