TYPE LOCALITY: “ in collibus ditionis Parmensis … ad Etnam [ one specimen on a Parmese hill … on Etna ( Catania ) ( Italy )]” . TYPE MATERIAL: not found in this study. CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Ancylorhynchus cingulatus ( Lehr 1988: 233 , Contini et al. 1995: 15 ). REMARKS: Rondani (1846b: 154) described Elasmocera cingulata from two males : “ Mas hujus speciei bis lectus in Italia. Individum unum in collibus ditionis Parmensis a me captum fuit …; alterum Dom. Gemellaro Cataniensis cum aliis Dipteris ad Etnam captis mihi comunicavit [the male of this species collected twice in Italy . One specimen was collected by myself on Parmese hills; Mr. Gemellaro from Catania provided the other collected together with other Diptera on Etna]”. We could not locate any type specimens of this nominal species during this study .
