TYPE LOCALITY: “ melitense [ Malta ]” . TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀ , holotype ( MZUF : 23): Hylephila buccata Fall. , ♀ , Melita , Parma / 1242 / Malta , 173. CURRENT STATUS: Dely-Draskovits (1993) did not list it; available name ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 211 ). REMARKS: Rondani (1877c: 235) described Hylephila melitensis from a female from Malta : “ Exemplar melitense faemineum possideo [I have a female specimen from Malta ]” in his redescription of Hylephila buccata Fallén, 1824 . There are two females in the MZUF, just one of which is labeled “ Malta ”. We consider this latter specimen as the holotype of Hylephila melitensis .
