Ozirhincus longicollis
Rondani, 1840
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1840b: 16.
TYPE
LOCALITY: “
prope aquam montanam
[near mountain water]”. Rondani gave no
type
locality in his original description but presumably it is
Italy
because the work deals with
Italian
species
.
TYPE
MATERIAL: not found in this study.
CURRENT STATUS: valid species (
Skuhravá 1986: 131
,
Gagné 2010: 319
,
Dahl
et al.
1995: 30
,
Gagné & Jaschhof 2017: 433
).
REMARKS:
Rondani (1840b: 16)
described
Ozirhincus longicollis
from just the female sex, without specifying the exact
number
of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length.
Rondani (1846d: 375)
reported that “Antrenidae” [=
Dermestidae
] ate the
two specimens
from which he described the species.
Gagné & Solinas (1996: 73)
confirmed that: “this species is not represented except by a label”. We could not locate any
type
specimens of this nominal species in our study.
