Mya jonicroma
from just the female sex, without specifying the exact
number
of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length, from material collected by
Osculati (1850)
during his journey through equatorial South America.
Osculati (1850: 240)
named but did not describe the species.
Costa
(1866: 33)
listed a single MZUN specimen (as
Somomyia
[
sic
!]
jonichroma
[
sic
!]) numbered “699” (Napo River).
Leonardi
et al
. (1995: 148)
and
Mazzotti (2011: 166)
reported the Osculati collection in Milan as being destroyed. We found
one syntype
in this study.
