REMARKS:
Rondani (1875c: 430)
described
Senopterina zonalis
from just the female sex, without specifying the exact
number
of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length, despite there being
four specimens
in the type series found in this study, from material collected by G.
Doria
and O. Beccari.
Guiglia (1957: 196)
reported a “
holotype
” (
♀
) in the MSNG without knowing of an additional
three females
syntypes
, one in the MSNG and two in the MZUF, which brings the original type series to
four specimens
. In his original description, Rondani did not explicitly refer to a single specimen, therefore Guiglia’s “
holotype
” specimen must be considered as the
lectotype
(I.C.Z.N. 1999: Article 74.6). The additional
three females
not examined by Guiglia (two in the MSNG and one in the MZUF) are
paralectotypes
.
