TYPE LOCALITY: “ In Alpibus Insubriae [ Insubrian (= Lombardy , Italy ) Alps ]” . TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀ , syntype (covered with mold, missing fore- and right mid-legs) ( MZUF : Box 21): Mesembrina Mgn / vespertina Rnd. , , Alpi Ins . [Insubrian (= Lombardy ) Alps] / 1128. CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Mesembrina mystacea (Linnaeus, 1758) ( Pont 1986b: 85 , Gorodkov et al. 1995: 11 ). REMARKS: Rondani (1862d: 211) described Mesembrina vespertina from just the female sex, without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens: “ foeminam tantum observavi … lecta et olim transmissa a D. Marietti [I have seen only the female … collected and formerly sent by D. Marietti]”. We found one syntype in this study.
