Maibach, 1991 / = Lejogaster metallina (Fabr., 1781) , det. A. Maibach, II.1991 . CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Lejogaster virgo ( Peck 1988: 138 , Belcari et al. 1995a: 14 ); junior synonym of Lejogaster metallina (Fabricius, 1781) ( Maibach et al. 1994: 258 ) . REMARKS: Rondani (1865a: 138) described Crysogaster virgo from just the female sex without specifying the number of specimens or the length of the specimens. Maibach et al. (1994: 258) designated a lectotype ( ♀ ). Rondani described this nominal species under the generic name Crysogaster , which is an “unjustified emendation of Chrysogaster Meigen, 1803 ” ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 66 ).
