REMARKS:
Rondani (1857: 161)
described both sexes of
Cheilosia subalpina
without specifying the exact
number
of specimens and giving a range of lengths: “
In collectione Mussino
marem speciei inveni, alterum sexum Pr. Bellardi … misit
[I found the male in Mussino’s collection and the female was sent to me by Prof. Bellardi]”.
Claussen & Thompson (1996: 280)
designated a
lectotype
(
♂
) and
paralectotypes
(
1 ♂
,
1 ♀
) but did not mention an additional female in the MZUF (Box 6) (this additional specimen is a
paralectotype
). Not included by them in the type series is the additional male numbered “286” labeled “Asch 7 [1]870.5” because it was collected at Asch [= Aš,
Czech Republic
] by F. Kowarz and later donated to Rondani. An additional female in the MZUF (Box B) labeled “Brixia [= Brescia]” is not included in the type series because it is not from the type locality.
