TYPE LOCALITY: “ in collibus ditionis Parmensis [ Parmese hills ( Italy )]” . TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀ , syntype (missing left wing) ( MZUF : Box 7): Chrysotoxum Mgn / collinum Rnd. / 357 / Chrysotoxum vernale (= collinum Rnd. ), det. M. Daccordi, 1985. CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Chrysotoxum vernale Loew, 1841 ( Peck 1988: 63 ) . REMARKS: Rondani (1857: 202) described Chrysotoxum collinum from just the female sex, without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens: “ Foemina tantum inventa [I found only the female]”. We found one syntype in this study. The MZUF male numbered “357” is not included in the type series because of its sex.
