CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Cheilosia mutabilis ( Fallén, 1817 ) ( Peck 1988: 110 , Belcari et al. 1995a: 13 ); junior synonym of Cheilosia proxima Zetterstedt, 1843 ( Claussen & Speight 1999: 95 ). REMARKS: Rondani (1857: 155) described both sexes of Cheilosia glirina without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length, from material he had collected and also received from F.M. Piccioli. Claussen & Speight (1999: 95) designated a lectotype ( ) and paralectotypes ( 1 ♂ , 1 ♀ ) but did not mention an additional two specimens : one male in the MZUF and one female in the MSNC (both of these are paralectotypes ). An additional two females in the MZUF numbered “258” from “Alpi” [= Alps] are not included by them in the type series because they are not from a type locality.
