CURRENT STATUS: valid species ( Peck 1988: 126 , Speight 1991: 8 , Belcari et al. 1995a: 13 ). REMARKS: Rondani (1844a: 64) described both sexes of Callicera spinolae without specifying the exact number of specimens and not giving a range of lengths: “ Mas valde foemina rarior [the male much rarer than the female]”. We found 15 syntypes in this study. Rondani ( 1843g : 375) proposed C. spinolae as new but without any description. Morge (1959b: 88) listed just one specimen in the MZUB; we found three.
