REMARKS: Rondani ( 1861g : 391) described Sarcophaga amita from just the male sex, without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens. In his redescription Rondani (1862d: 122) specified having had more than one male : “ Marem legi in collibus , et alium in Apenino agri parmensis [I collected the male on hills, and once on the Parmese Apennines]”. Pape (1988: 6) designated a lectotype ( ) and paralectotypes ( 2 ♂♂ ) but did not mention an additional male in the OUMNH and one male in the MSNC (both of these additional specimens are paralectotypes ).
