TYPE LOCALITY: “ in collibus ditionis parmensis [ Parmese hills ( Italy )]” . TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂ , syntype (covered with mold, missing mid-legs, abdomen partially crushed), ( MZUF : Box 13): Exorista Mgn / agnata Rnd. / 648; 1 ♂ , syntype (slightly covered with mold) ( MZUF : Box D): Exorista agnata Rnd. , 232, , Parma / 393 232; 2 ♀♀ (only one of the two is a syntype but is not labeled as such) with the following labels: 1 ♀ (covered with mold, missing mid- and left hind-legs) ( MZUF : Box 13): Exorista Mgn / agnata Rnd. / 648; 1 ♀ (missing both fore and mid-legs, thorax and abdomen partially eaten by dermestids) ( MSNC : Box DIPTERA Ex collezione Rondani - I): Exorista agnata Rnd. 49 ♀ Parma / Coll. Rondani, scatola n° 1, posiz. E-2 / Museo di Storia Naturale Università di Pisa, Calci ( PI ) ex collezione Rondani. CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Phebellia nigripalpis (Robineau-Desvoidy, 1847) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 186 ) . REMARKS: Rondani (1859b: 144) described Exorista agnata from two males and one female : “ duo mascula tantum inventa , et unica foemina [found only two males and one female ]”. There are two males and one female in the MZUF and one female in the MSNC : these specimens did not have any label indicating their type status. We are unable to single out the single female upon which Rondani based his description. We leave the recognition of this syntype to a future specialist. An additional two specimens in the MZUF numbered “648” are not included in the type series because their labels are yellowish rather than the greenish color of Rondani’s original handwritten ones and are in a lower row in the Box, for which reason we treat them to be subsequent additions .
