TYPE LOCALITY: “ in planitie prope Parmam [on plains near Parma (Italy) ]”. TYPE MATERIAL: 2 ♀♀ (one of them is surely the holotype but is not labeled as such) ( MZUF : Box 15) with the following labels: Masicera Maq. / aristella Rndn. / 758. CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Lydella stabulans ( Meigen, 1824 ) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 205 ) . REMARKS: Rondani (1859b: 148) described Exorista aristella from a single female, giving a range of lengths: “ Foeminam unicam inveni [I found a single female]”. There are two females without any label indicating their type status in the MZUF : we are unable to single out the one upon which Rondani based his description. We leave the recognition of the holotype to a future specialist .
