TYPE LOCALITY: “ in montuosis agri parmensi [ Parmese mountains ( Italy )]” . TYPE MATERIAL: not found in this study. CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Erycilla ferruginea ( Meigen, 1824 ) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 239 ) . REMARKS: Rondani (1859b: 132) described both sexes of Exorista rutilla without specifying the exact number of specimens and not giving a range of lengths: “ Rarissimo lectus uterque sexus [Rarely collected both sexes]”. Herting (1969: 200) stated that this nominal species “is not represented in the Florence collection”. We were unable to locate any type material of this nominal species in our study. The MRSN contains three females from “ Torino ” [Turin], which is not the type locality.
