CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of
Pseudogonia parisiaca
(Robineau-Desvoidy, 1851) (

REMARKS:
Rondani (1859b: 38)
described both sexes of
Gonia cognata
without specifying the exact
number
of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length: “
Mas rarissimo lectus
in agro parmensi
, et hujus foemina
semel inventa
[The male collected very rarely and the female found once]”. We found
two syntypes
in this study.
Rondani (1861e: 154)
suggested that it could belong to
Cnephalia
Rondani, 1856
rather than to
Gonia
Meigen, 1803
. In the MZUF this nominal species is under the generic name
Cnephalia
and in the MSNC under the generic name
Spalanzania
[
sic
!].
