CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Chetogena obliquata (Fallén, 1810) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 137 ) . REMARKS: Rondani (1868a: 39) described Chetogena penicillaris without specifying the number , the sex or the length of the specimens in the subgenus Spoggosia Rondani, 1859 , which is a junior synonym of Chetogena Rondani, 1856 ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 170 ). We found three syntypes in this study.
