Messnil in Agosto 1938 ” [This specimen was observed by L. Messnil in August 1938 ]; 1 ♂ , syntype (partially eaten by dermestids, missing left wing, right fore-, left mid- and left hind-legs) ( MZUF : Box 12): Chetogena Rnd. / media Rnd. / 612; 1 ♂ , syntype ( MSNPV : Box 96): Chetogena media Rndn. , 132, ♂ , Parma . CURRENT STATUS: valid species ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 137 , Pape et al. 1995: 17 , Cerretti 2010: 106 ; O’Hara et al . 2020: 388 ). REMARKS: Rondani (1859b: 181) described both sexes of Chetogena media without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length. We found three male syntypes in this study. The female type has presumably been lost.
