from just the female sex, without specifying the exact

of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length, from material collected by G.
Doria
and O. Beccari.
Ricardo (1911: 172)
examined the MSNG type. She proposed the new replacement name
Tabanus varicolor
for
Tabanus variegatus
,
preoccupied by
Fabricius (1805: 95)
.
Guiglia (1957: 197)
and

reported the
holotype
