[ sic !], Sicil. / 1658 / lectotype Tephritis separata Rondani , det. B. Merz, 1992 . PARALECTOTYPE NOT EXAMINED: 1 ♂ (dirty) ( MZUF : Box 31): Tephritis Latr. / separata Rnd. , / 1658 / . CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Tephritis separata ( Foote 1984: 133 , White 1986: 156 , Merz 1992: 236 , Merz 1994: 76 , Belcari et al. 1995b: 11 , Norrbom et al. 1999: 219 ). REMARKS: Rondani (1871b: 18) described separata as a variety of the species Tephritis conjuncta ( Loew, 1844 ) , without specifying the number , sex or length of the specimens. Merz (1992: 236) designated a lectotype ( ) but did not mention an additional MZUF male numbered “1658” (this additional specimen is a paralectotype ).
