CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Loewia brevifrons ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 307 , Pape et al. 1995: 26 , Cerretti 2010: 342 , O’Hara et al . 2020: 647 ). REMARKS: Rondani’s (1856: 65) key for the genus Thrychogena Rondani, 1856 lists Thrychogena brevifrons as its type species, but he did not provide a detailed description, type locality, number or sex of the specimens. He later ( Rondani 1859b: 86 ) provided specific characters for the male and female and moved the species to the genus Macquartia Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 . Cerretti et al. (2014: 452) designated a lectotype ( ♂ ) and paralectotypes ( 5 ♀♀ ) but did not mention an additional male and female in the MSNC and a male in the OUMNH (all are paralectotypes ).
