REMARKS:
Rondani (1859b: 73)
described both sexes of
Nemorea nupta
sex without specifying either the
number
or the length of the specimens: “
Maris unum
, et foeminae specimina duo a me
lecta
fuerunt …, sed uterque sexus in posterum a Dania missus, … a Clar. Staegero, et a
Germania
a Doct. Schinero
[
one male
and
two female
specimens were collected by me …, but subsequently both sexes were sent to me by Mr. Staeger from
Denmark
and by Dr. Schiner from
Germany
]”. We found
two male
syntypes
in this study. The female type has presumably been lost. Rondani described this nominal species under the generic name “
Nemorea
”, which is an “incorrect subsequent spelling of
Nemoraea
Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830
or subsequent usage of
Nemorea
Macquart, 1834
” (
O’Hara
et al.
2011: 126
).
