TYPE LOCALITY: Rondani (1856: 83) gave no locality in his redescription of Morphomyia tachinoides (Fallén, 1810) , but presumably it is Italy because the work deals with Italian species; “ in planitie quam in collibus agri parmensi [Parmese plains and hills ( Italy )]” ( Rondani 1862d: 49 ) [ type locality for Morphomyia caliendrata Rondani, 1862 ]. CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Stomina caliendrata ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 391 , Pape et al. 1995: 30 , O’Hara et al . 2020: 171 ). REMARKS: Rondani (1862d: 49) proposed Morphomyia caliendrata for Morphomyia tachinoides (Fallén, 1810) sensu Rondani (1856: 83) , which he considered a new species. We found 18 syntypes in this study. Rondani described both sexes of this nominal species under the generic name Morphomyia , which is an “unjustified emendation of Morphomya Rondani, 1856 ” ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 120 ).
