Material examined . TALUD XII , St. 15C ( 17°27’51”N , 102°10’43”W ), March 31, 2008 , 2F , MN from surface to 1530 m ( TD , 1880 m ) (ICML-EMU-12465). Eastern and worldwide Pacific distribution . From the Bering Sea to Isla Santa Catalina, southern Gulf of California ( Brusca & Hendrickx 2005 ; García Madrigal 2007). Off SW Mexico (present study; Fig. 4 ). This widely distributed species ( type locality off Ireland , East Atlantic) occurs in the West Pacific, the Central Atlantic, and in the central part of the Indian Ocean ( Zeidler & de Broyer 2009 ). Remarks . Scina submarginata is known to occur at depths between 200 and 4000 m . It is relatively easy to distinguish by features such as the distal extension of propodus in pereopod 1, but not in pereopod 2 (like in S. marginata ), and the basis of pereopod 5 with long anterodistal projection. The sizes of the two examined females were 4.5 and 5.8 mm.
