Remarks.
This is a species which was described based on two females from
Ukraine
,
Crimea
and southern
Hungary
. The material collected recently in
Greece
shows a wider distribution of the species and allowed to describe the hitherto unknown male. Unfortunately, we have no opportunity to examine the
type
specimens and thus our identification is only based on the description and the key published by
Yunakov (2005)
. The Greek material seems to be conspecific with
A. intermedius
, the only difference we could detect, was the shape of the spermatheca, where the Greek specimens show a ramus which is twice as long as wide, distinctly oval with a very short and rounded nodulus, while the
type
specimen of
A. intermedius
has a shorter ramus, with less rounded sides and the nodulus inserts higher. However, this rather small difference in the spermatheca could be assumed as variability within the species.
The male of
A. intermedius
is morphologically hardly distinguishable from the female. Males are on average smaller, being
1.84–2.18 mm
long, while females are
2.03–2.25 mm
long. The penis is widest at base, evenly tapered to apical quarter with indistinctly concave sides, apical part subtriangular with rounded tip; laterally slightly curved, with elongated tip (
Fig. 34
).
