Seven new species of the genus Pseudostegana (Diptera: Drosophilidae) from South-west China, with DNA barcoding information Author Gong, Lu Author Chen, Hongwei text Journal of Natural History 2018 2018-09-24 52 31 - 32 2097 2119 http://dx.doi.org/10.1080/00222933.2018.1515381 journal article 10.1080/00222933.2018.1515381 1464-5262 5177265 C01D7920-61AD-4651-8861-9D76C3CD86F6 Pseudostegana montipagana sp. nov. ( Figures 5 (a–f) and 11) Diagnosis This species strongly resembles P. insularis Li, Gao and Chen, 2010 from Hainan , China , in the body colour ( Figure 5 (a–f)) and male terminalia ( Figure 11 ), but can be distinguished from it by the wing pattern and aedeagus; in this species, medial band of wing medially broadened ( Figure 5 (c)); aedeagus basally strong, and subapically slightly curved ventrad in lateral view ( Figure 11 (c)). The 8.9% interspecific genetic distance to P. insularis is the smallest within this group; there are seven diagnostic sites between P. montipagana sp. nov. and P. insularis ( Figure 2 ). Figure 11. Pseudostegana montipagana sp. nov. , male terminalia. (a) epandrium, cercus and surstylus; (b, c) hypandrium, paramere, gonopods, aedeagus and aedeagal apodeme (ventral and lateral views). Scale bars: 0.1 mm. Description Male. Head ( Figure 5 (a,d)): Ocellar triangle brown, nearly equally elongated to anterior margin of frons. Frons brown. Pedicel brownish; first flagellomere greyish yellow. Face brown above, dark brown below. Clypeus dark brown. Gena brown. Palpus greyish yellow, broad, large in male, medially half as wide as long. Thorax ( Figure 5 (b,e)): Scutum brown and with one thin, dark medial stripe on anterior two-thirds, dark brown on posterior one-third. Pleura nearly dark brown. Katepisternal setae two. Scutellum dark brown. Legs: Yellow, dark brown on distal half of femora and tibiae of mid and hind legs. Abdomen ( Figure 5 (f)): First to third tergites dark brown, the rest black. Sternites yellowish brown on second and third, dark brown on the rest. Male terminalia ( Figure 11 ): Epandrium slightly roundly protruding on ventral margin, with about 17 setae per side. Surstylus protruding on posteroventral corner. Cercus ventrally slightly elongated. Paramere apically slightly bifurcated, subapically with two long sensilla and several sensilla on dorsal projection. Basal process of aedeagus slender, distally with about five finger-like projections.
