Identification. This species can be distinguished from other Scybalocanthon species such as S. aereus and S. sexspilotus by the head, pygidium and evenly colored femurs ( Silva and Valois 2019 ); variable coloration in the pronotum from light brown to dark spot patterns. The collected specimens of Scybalocanthon aff. kelleri showed the usual pattern of completely dark coloration on the femur as described by Silva and Valois (2019) . However, in some individuals this pattern varied with a light medial coloration and dark ends. Distribution. This species is closely related to S. kelleri , recorded from the Eastern Cordillera of Colombia , in the department of Meta at 200 m a.s.l. ( Medina and Pulido 2009 ). In the study area, this species was associated with riparian forests and was found at an altitude of 1000 m a.s.l. Four individuals were collected, which categorizes it as a rare species.
